Ahmednagar Jilha Maratha Vidya Prasarak Samaj, Ahmednagar established New Arts, Commerce and Science College, Shevgaon in the year 1978. It was primarily founded to provide education to the wards of Jayakwadi Dam Project affected masses in the vicinity. It is affiliated to the Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune. It is a private and aided college that offers multidisciplinary co-education at UG and PG level. Some of the programmes offered by the college are self- financed. It is located in Ahmednagar district of western Maharashtra. The famous Jayakwadi dam on the river Godavari and the religious shrine of Saint Eknath are located at Paithan at a distance of 24 Km.

Beginning with a meagre student strength of 83, college has grown into a holistic multidisciplinary institution having more than 3000 students in its Senior and Junior

wings. It comprises of two campuses spread over an area of 7.75 acres. It comes under the sections 2(f) and 12B of UGC Act 1956. It has undergone three cycles of NAAC accreditation. It was accredited with ‘A’ grade in the 3rd cycle. There are 23 undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Choice Based Credit System was introduced in 2019 to ensure multiple curricular opportunities to students. It received RUSA Funding in 2019. It is a recipient of the ‘Best Rural College Award’ from the parent university. The college gives huge impetus to extension activities and outreach programs. Its efforts towards Extension Activities (Gender Equality), Environment Conservation and tree plantation at both on and off campus have brought accolades by receiving Jagar Janivancha Award (2012) and 'Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vanashree Award' (2023) for its commendable work from the Government of Maharashtra. Besides regular courses, college offers Add on and Skill based Certificate courses to promote all round development of students and to equip them with career skills. It is all equipped to implement the provisions in New Education Policy-2020.
